Description

Crispy, sticky, and spicy-sweet chicken wings made with just five ingredients. This easy oven-baked recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor without the need for a deep fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup honey
  • ⅓ cup hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss wings with vegetable oil, baking powder, and salt until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange wings in a single layer on the wire rack, ensuring they do not touch. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until skin is golden brown and crispy.
  4. While wings bake, combine honey, hot sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and melted butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk gently and heat for 2-3 minutes until warm and fragrant. Do not boil.
  5. Transfer hot wings to a large mixing bowl. Pour warm sauce over wings and toss vigorously to coat evenly.
  6. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure wings are patted very dry before seasoning. Use a wire rack to allow air circulation. If you don’t have a rack, line the pan with parchment paper and flip wings halfway through. For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce. For dairy-free, skip the butter or use olive oil.
