Description
Crispy, sticky, and spicy-sweet chicken wings made with just five ingredients. This easy oven-baked recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor without the need for a deep fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup honey
- ⅓ cup hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss wings with vegetable oil, baking powder, and salt until evenly coated.
- Arrange wings in a single layer on the wire rack, ensuring they do not touch. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until skin is golden brown and crispy.
- While wings bake, combine honey, hot sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and melted butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk gently and heat for 2-3 minutes until warm and fragrant. Do not boil.
- Transfer hot wings to a large mixing bowl. Pour warm sauce over wings and toss vigorously to coat evenly.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure wings are patted very dry before seasoning. Use a wire rack to allow air circulation. If you don’t have a rack, line the pan with parchment paper and flip wings halfway through. For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce. For dairy-free, skip the butter or use olive oil.
