Fall Toasted Maple Latte: 5 Easy Steps for Cozy Mornings

  • Author: Maya
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A cozy, homemade maple latte featuring toasted brown butter, real maple syrup, and a light whipped cinnamon foam. This drink offers sophisticated fall flavors in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons (42g) unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) real maple syrup (Grade A or B)
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1.5 cups (360ml) strong coffee
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole, oat, or almond)
  • ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon (8g) powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: Extra maple syrup for drizzle, cinnamon dust for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brew strong coffee using a French press or drip machine and keep warm.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Swirl constantly until it turns golden amber and smells nutty (about 3-4 minutes). Watch closely to avoid burning.
  3. Remove from heat and immediately stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon stick, and sea salt until smooth.
  4. Heat the milk in a separate saucepan over medium-low heat until steaming (around 150°F/65°C), but do not boil.
  5. Use a handheld frother to whip the warm milk until creamy and frothy.
  6. In a cold mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and ground cinnamon. Whip with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
  7. Pour the toasted maple butter base into a large mug. Add the brewed coffee and stir to combine.
  8. Pour the frothed milk over the coffee, holding back the foam with a spoon.
  9. Spoon the whipped cinnamon foam on top. Drizzle with extra maple syrup and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure the heavy cream and bowl are cold for best whipping results. Do not boil the milk as it ruins the texture. The toasted butter base can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or frozen for 3 months.
