Description
A creamy, dairy-free smoothie that uses almond butter to create a velvety texture without dairy milk. This 5-minute recipe balances natural fruit sweetness with healthy fats for a satisfying, meal-worthy breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries
- 1 medium ripe banana, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons natural almond butter
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 3–4 ice cubes (optional)
Instructions
- If using fresh strawberries, chop and freeze them for at least an hour. Peel and chop the banana.
- Pour the almond milk into the blender first to protect the blades and create a vortex.
- Add the almond butter. If stiff, microwave for 10 seconds to soften. Ensure the almond butter is well-stirred before adding.
- Add the frozen strawberries, banana chunks, honey (if using), and ice (if using).
- Blend on low speed for 10 seconds, then increase to high speed. Blend for 45-60 seconds until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust consistency by adding more milk if too thick or more fruit if too thin.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
Use frozen fruit for a thick texture without diluting flavor with ice. Ensure almond butter is 100% pure with no added oils or sugars. Blend on high for at least 60 seconds to emulsify the almond butter and prevent separation. For a smoothie bowl, reduce almond milk to ½ cup.
