Description
A thick, creamy, and nutrient-dense vegan smoothie made with frozen blueberries, almond butter, and oats. Perfect for meal prep, this freezer-friendly breakfast keeps you full and requires only minutes to blend.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups frozen blueberries
- 2 tablespoons almond butter
- ¼ cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: ½ teaspoon spirulina powder
- Optional: 1 scoop vegan protein powder
Instructions
- Label freezer-safe bags and add dry ingredients: oats, chia seeds, almond butter, and any optional dry add-ins like protein powder or spirulina.
- Press dry ingredients flat to save space, then top with frozen blueberries.
- Press fruit down gently to remove air, seal bags tightly, and store flat in the freezer.
- When ready to eat, dump one smoothie bag into a high-speed blender.
- Add almond milk, vanilla extract, and maple syrup (if using).
- Blend on low speed to break up frozen fruit, then increase to high speed.
- Blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth.
- Adjust consistency by adding more milk if too thick or more frozen fruit if too thin.
- Pour into a glass or smoothie cup and serve immediately.
Notes
Use frozen blueberries for a thick, slushy texture; fresh berries will make it watery. If using a weaker blender, let the smoothie sit for a minute after blending to allow oats to soften. Clean the blender immediately after use by blending warm water and a drop of dish soap. Ensure oats are certified gluten-free if necessary.
