Copycat Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shakerato

  • Author: Maya

Description

A creamy, frothy iced coffee drink made by shaking hot espresso with brown sugar syrup and ice, served over oat milk. This copycat recipe replicates the popular coffee shop beverage at home with customizable sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso (about 2 oz / 60ml)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (25g)
  • 1 tablespoon hot water (15ml)
  • 1 cup oat milk (240ml)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (about 150g)
  • Optional: Whipped cream or cinnamon for topping

Instructions

  1. Make the brown sugar syrup: In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, combine brown sugar and hot water. Heat until the sugar is completely dissolved (about 1-2 minutes on stove or 30 seconds in microwave). Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Brew the espresso: Pull two shots of espresso using a machine or Moka pot, or rehydrate instant espresso powder with hot water. Ensure the coffee is strong and hot.
  3. Shake the mixture: Add the hot espresso, brown sugar syrup, and about 1/4 cup of ice cubes to a cocktail shaker or mason jar. Secure the lid tightly and shake hard for 15-20 seconds until the shaker feels cold and a thick foam forms.
  4. Assemble the drink: Fill a tall glass (12-16 oz) with fresh ice cubes. Pour in the oat milk, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  5. Pour and serve: Slowly pour the shaken espresso mixture over the ice. For a layered look, pour slowly over the back of a spoon. Top with whipped cream or cinnamon if desired, and drink immediately.

Notes

Use hot espresso, not cold, to create the foam texture. Shake for at least 15 seconds to ensure proper aeration. Chill the glass beforehand to keep the drink cold longer. The brown sugar syrup can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Drink immediately for the best foam texture.
