Description
An easy, crowd-pleasing game day appetizer featuring soft French bread layered with melted cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and tangy ranch seasoning.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf French bread (about 1.5 lbs / 680g)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix (0.7 oz / 20g)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 stalks green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook bacon until crispy, then crumble and set aside.
- Slice the French bread horizontally into two halves, then slice each half vertically into 12-16 slices, leaving about an inch at the end intact to hold the loaf together.
- In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, dry ranch dressing mix, and garlic powder until smooth.
- Layer the bread in the baking dish. Sprinkle half the cheese and half the bacon over the bottom half of the bread. Pour half the butter mixture over it.
- Repeat with the top half of the bread, remaining cheese, bacon, and butter mixture.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle with sliced green onions and serve.
Notes
Ensure bacon is crispy to prevent sogginess. Use freshly grated cheese for better melting. Let the bread rest for 5 minutes after baking to allow cheese to set.
