  • Author: Maya
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

A crispy, spicy, and creamy shrimp recipe made in the air fryer using affordable frozen ingredients. This budget-friendly meal is ready in just 15 minutes and costs under $6 to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen raw shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 12 teaspoons Sriracha or hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice (optional)
  • White rice (for serving)
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Thaw frozen shrimp in a colander under cold water for 3-5 minutes. Pat them completely dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy coating.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and lime juice until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the dried shrimp with flour, seasoning salt, and black pepper until lightly coated. Shake off excess flour.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  5. Place shrimp in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Lightly spray the tops of the shrimp with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until shrimp are opaque, pink, and crispy.
  7. Transfer hot shrimp to a bowl and toss with the Bang Bang sauce until evenly coated.
  8. Serve immediately over white rice, garnished with cilantro and sesame seeds.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are completely dry before coating to prevent soggy results. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. The sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks. Leftover shrimp can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
